   HISTORY OF ART SEMINARS

Our History of Art Seminars will introduce students to the remarkable development of art and culture in Florence and other Italian cities from the 14th to the 16th centuries, from Pre-Renaissance to the period known as the High Renaissance. The seminars will familiarise students with the masterpieces of great artists such as Giotto, Masaccio, Donatello, Botticelli, Leonardo and Michelangelo, among others. The historical, cultural and religious environment in which these artists worked and lived will also be explored. Students will learn to recognise and appreciate the distincitive styles and meaning of these works of art as well as broaden their understanding of the period and the underlying ideas and inspiration.

Seminars are taught by highly qualified teachers of History of Art and are usually held on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoon(s), to give students the opprortuntiy to follow the School's other courses.

Each seminar lasts 2-2½ hours and includes video and/or slide projections. All material handed out in class is included.

Seminars are held in Italian, and are threfore recommended for levels Elementary and above.

Minimum 4 students per class.
